About the service

What is it and how does it work?

A quickshifter uses a sensor on the gear lever to let you upshift without closing the throttle or pulling the clutch. When the sensor detects the shift movement, the ECU cuts ignition and/or fuel for a matter of milliseconds to unload the gears, and the gear engages in that brief gap. An autoblipper (two-way quickshifter) blips the throttle briefly via the electronic throttle on downshifts to match engine speed to the new gear, making clutchless, smooth downshifts possible without locking the rear wheel.

Many modern motorcycles have these functions in the ECU, but they come switched off because of the model, equipment package or market, or only work when the original accessory is fitted. With Legend Tuned software, the quickshifter function is activated on motorcycles with suitable hardware; parameters such as cut time by gear and RPM, sensor sensitivity, minimum activation RPM and throttle position are set to suit your riding style.

Important: Software alone is not enough. A quickshifter requires a suitable sensor (original or a quality aftermarket sensor) fitted to the shift mechanism and an ECU that supports this input; an autoblipper can only be done on motorcycles with an electronic throttle (ride-by-wire). We check your motorcycle’s compatibility in advance based on make, model, year and ECU details, and plan the sensor fitting if needed.

Benefits

What do you gain?

  • Seamless upshifts without closing the throttle or pulling the clutch
  • Rev-matched, clutchless downshifts with the autoblipper (on ride-by-wire models)
  • Cut time and sensor sensitivity adjustable by gear and RPM
  • Faster shifts on the track, smoother and more comfortable riding on the street
  • Can be applied in one go with Stage 1 software and other options

Process

How is it done?

  1. 01

    Step 01 Compatibility check

The ECU type, software version, quickshifter sensor and electronic throttle hardware are identified.

  2. 02

    Step 02

If necessary, a quickshifter sensor is fitted to the shift mechanism and connected.

  3. 03

    Step 03

The original software is backed up; the quickshifter (and autoblipper, if supported) function is activated in the software.

  4. 04

    Step 04

Cut time, sensitivity and minimum RPM values are set; shifts are checked on a road test and fine-tuned if necessary.

FAQ

Quickshifter / Autoblipper Activation — FAQ

The most frequently asked questions about this service, with short answers.

Have another question?Message us with your car’s make, model and engine.

Can quickshifter software be done on every motorcycle?

No. The ECU must support a quickshifter input and a suitable sensor must be fitted. On some models the function is already in the ECU and only needs activating; on others there is no software support. We check compatibility in advance using the make, model, year and ECU details.

What is needed for an autoblipper?

To blip the throttle on downshifts, the motorcycle must have an electronic throttle (ride-by-wire). On motorcycles with a cable-operated throttle, an autoblipper cannot be done through software; on these models only an upshift quickshifter is possible.

Does a quickshifter damage the gearbox?

A correctly set up quickshifter cuts the load for a very short moment during the shift, allowing the gears to engage smoothly. Problems usually come from an incorrect cut time or a faulty sensor; that’s why we set it up by gear and RPM and verify it on a road test.
